Dear Fellow Patriot,
Let me first tell you, nothing brings tears to the eyes of this old Marine like seeing the incredible sacrifices our brave combat troops are making for us every day.
Sacrifices like those made by Marine Gunnery Sgt. Greg Salcido.
Greg proudly served 16 years in the Marines as an infantryman, marksmanship instructor, and imagery analysis specialist in the intelligence field.
He served multiple deployments overseas, including two combat tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
During these tours, Greg took part in many dangerous combat and high intensity operations. He always demonstrated the bravery ... the discipline ... and the commitment to accomplishing a mission for which Marines are famous.
And he paid a heavy, heavy price.
As a result of putting his life on the line for us, Greg suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and continues to suffer from Disc Degeneration in both his neck and back. He also suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress.
He may spend many years — potentially the rest of his life -- in rehabilitation, therapy, and counseling for his physical and emotional wounds.
Fortunately, Greg has a loving wife (a former Marine herself) and three beautiful children to rally around him and encourage him through the difficult times ahead.
