Message from the President
As Americans, we all owe a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who wear the uniform — especially those who’ve lost life or limb defending our country.
But all of us at Freedom Alliance also owe another debt of gratitude — to people like you.
Combat Veterans Receive Recreational Therapy
We recently hosted 17 combat veterans for a week of recreational therapy in Costa Rica. The week was filled with plenty of enjoyable activities. But most importantly, it was a time for these warriors to find a sense of relaxation that eludes them during a routine week. Here, they find healing — and an opportunity to hear how much their sacrifice for our nation is appreciated.
A Salute to Military Chaplains
This July, we mark 244 years since the installation of the first military chaplains. In 1775, the Continental Congress authorized chaplains to serve in the Continental Army for the spiritual benefit of the troops. After taking command, George Washington handed down an order that, “requires and expects of all officers and soldiers...a punctual attendance at divine services to implore the blessings of Heaven upon the means used for our safety and defense.”
